Amanda & Grant E-Session

Last weekend ... BEFORE the snow (wow did we ever luck out!) Yes, last weekend, I was able to get together with and photograph Amanda and Grant. Amanda and Grant were such an easy going pair, which really made this session a breeze. What a fabulous connection they have ... which is so very apparent in their extremely emotional images. Grant could make Amanda laugh at the drop of a hat .... and I have to say that his "crazy person laugh" made me laugh more than I ever have while out on a shoot. What a blast these two were!! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to be a part of your wedding in September, 2009!! The details that I have heard about so far (and I won't ruin anything, just in case some of it is a surprise for guests) have me oozing with anticipation and excitement for you. I can guarantee that your day will be just as special as your love for one another and I can't wait to be there to witness your event. Thank you for being so much fun last weekend and I really hope you enjoy your "sneak peek". Merry Christmas!!

Regan & Aaron E-Session

Another LONG overdue blog post! Regan and Aaron, I apologize for taking so long to post this! A couple weekends ago I was able to travel to Lethbridge for an engagement shoot adventure. This adventure was especially unique as Regan is an old, good friend of mine. It isn't very often that I get a chance to shoot for people that I know really well ..... needless to say, I had a really good time!! Once again, we had slightly cool weather, but this minor set back wasn't going to influence our long time planned adventure! I was especially happy with this beautiful location that Regan and Aaron had in mind ... as I've always had a "thing" for this bridge - what a beautiful work of art it is. Adding to the adventure was Regan and Aaron's dog, Buck - who had no problems joining in on the fun. Buck is an energetic, fun loving guy and definitely kept us all laughing. What a sweetie. Despite being slightly distracted at times by his ever energetic nature, Regan and Aaron's images turned out fabulously! I am really looking forward to traveling with Regan and Aaron to their destination wedding in Mexico, taking place in May, 2009. It will be a pleasure to not only be a part of your engagement celebration, but your wedding celebration as well. I've really enjoyed watching your love grow and blossom over the years - and I'm really happy for the both of you and wish you all the best in your bright bright future ahead as husband and wife! Congrats friends and thanks again for a lovely weekend!

TeNeil & Greg E-Session

Last Weekend I had the pleasure of photographing this extremely photogenic couple. It was a tad bit cool that day, but I didn't hear one (not one) complaint from either of these two. They were willing to keep going as long I wanted ... which can be a bit scary when I get into my trigger happy creative moods! haha. Seriously though, TeNeil and Greg, I had such a great time with you last Friday and I thank you for being such a great couple to be around. You two are a match made in heaven and I wish all the best with planning your wedding in Hawaii this summer. It will be spectacular, I just know it!!

December, December

Oh December. In an attempt to slow down and enjoy Christmas, I have decided to take December off. I wanted to let my clients know that I will still be answering phone calls, emails and canvas order requests. However, I will not be shooting in the month of December. Sorry folks, no more last minute engagement shoots for this month. If you are patient enough to wait until the new year, I promise to return to shooting, a refreshed and rejuvenated Renee! I thought with the recent switch to wedding and engagement photography, that December was pretty much a sure thing to have off - being as it's definitely not the wedding season in this part of the world. However, I have been proven wrong! I am still as crazy as ever ... and with this years wedding season wrapping up ... I'm not going to lie ... I am tired! Like I mentioned earlier, the new year is a new year ... and I know that with a bit of time off, I'll be ready to dive into my passion once again. In the mean time, I plan on spending lots of time with my hubby cozied up in front of the fire place, Chirstmas shopping and sledding my 2 big goofy dogs, Oscar and Annie (if there is snow of course). Here is last year's Christmas card of my beautiful little family ... so that you are able to see why they deserve all the attention in the world around such a magical time of year. Merry Christmas!! Oh and I am still a few blog posts behind ... so still stay tuned!!

Professional Photographers of Canada Convention

I have just returned from the Professional Photographers of Canada Provincial Convention. It was an amazing weekend, jam packed with fabulous speakers and endless learning opportunities. What a great experience! I couldn't have hoped for more! This was also the first year that I submitted prints into their competition. I was terrified and excited all the same time when my prints came up for judging. The whole process was anonymous, so I was really looking forward to hearing feedback on my prints from a completely unbiased perspective. As it turned out ... and I was COMPLETELY surprised, knowing how challenging such a competition is, all 4 of my entries were accepted and one received a merit score. All 4 prints were nominated for the best in their class and 1 won!!! My editorial entry won a very fancy trophy for the best in it's class. I was soooo excited to receive such an award from an organization as credible as the PPOC. In addition to the incredible honor of having one of my prints win, I was also nominated (1 of 3 photographers) for General Photographer of the Year!! Although I didn't win, I was incredibly happy and pleasantly surprised to even be considered. The fellow who won definitely deserved it, as he does amazingly beautiful work.... and I was ecstatic to even be considered for the reward at his side. What a great weekend!! So here are the 4 photos that I entered and their categories. To view the image larger simply click on it.

This was my winning print! It won best in it's class - Editorial category. yay!!

Nominated for best in it's class - Wedding Group category

Darla & Trevor E-Session

This blog post is WAY overdue! Darla and Trevor, I do apologize for taking so long to post your sneak peek. This session took place the weekend before last and I couldn't be happier with the results! Darla and Trevor were a blast to work with .... getting these two to laugh certainly wasn't a challenge at all! What an unbelievable connection! I loved the guitar addition and I'm very impressed with Trevor's musical abilities considering he mentioned lacking a "key component" ... the guitar pick. Regardless, he did a great job. It wasn't just for show .... he actually did play some really good tunes! I'm very much looking forward to their wedding in September 2009, and I really hope that Trevor's guitar makes another guest appearance. What a romantic touch!

Ashley & Ryan E-Session

Thanksgiving weekend! Ashley and Ryan were fabulous sports as they opted to put off turkey eatin' until they were done their engagement shoot. I was pleasantly surprised that they valued their photos more than yummy turkey goodness! haha. This was another fantastic shoot with a fantastic couple who were up for anything and everything. I've really been lucking out with such fabulous clients lately. This "up for anything" attitude is my favorite type of session. It really allows for more artistic freedon and I'm always ecstatic with the end result. Ashley and Ryan were such a great couple ... you could really see their love for one another shine through in the short amount of time I spent with them. They were so good to each other ... what a kind love. Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm a sucker for love ... so I could really gush and gush forever about how much I enjoy the company of couples in love! Ashley and Ryan, you were no exception ... what a pleasure it was to spend some time with the two of you and get to know you better. Ryan, your sense of humour was unforgetable and Ashley, your kind nature was equally impactful. You two are awesome! Please enjoy a small sample of my many many favorites ... it was REALLY hard to narrow it down as there were soooo many good ones! Enjoy.

Angela & Joel E-Session

Sunday was perfectly overcast for most of my shoot with Angela and Joel and I couldn't have been happier with the results! Perfect cloud cover for a perfect couple! Angela and Joel were an absolute pleasure to shoot .... when they weren't making fun of me and my strange antics. LOL. Seriously though, it was a blast, since these two were up for anything and everything. I must apologize once again for asking Angela to lay down on that cement .... it made for a beautiful photo though, so I hope she feels it was as worth it as I do!! Capturing moments and emotion was a breeze with these two ... and I'm now more excited than ever to shoot their wedding in July!! Please enjoy a small sample of my many many favorites, not to spoil the final reveal!!

Natasha & Wayne

Last weekend Natasha and Wayne tied the knot. I had such a great time shooting this wedding, as Natasha and Wayne were both very easy going and fun loving. What a beautiful couple! After being together for over 8 years, it is still very apparent that these two are very much in love!! I can't even begin to describe what a pleasure it was to be a part of such a special union. The wedding was beautiful, elegant as ever, and the sun was shining making the day absolutely perfect. As you can see from my multiple photos, I had a really hard time picking just a few to post on the blog ... there were so many good ones! Natasha and Wayne, please enjoy a small sample of my many favorites. Thanks again for being so great!
