TeNeil & Greg E-Session

Last Weekend I had the pleasure of photographing this extremely photogenic couple. It was a tad bit cool that day, but I didn't hear one (not one) complaint from either of these two. They were willing to keep going as long I wanted ... which can be a bit scary when I get into my trigger happy creative moods! haha. Seriously though, TeNeil and Greg, I had such a great time with you last Friday and I thank you for being such a great couple to be around. You two are a match made in heaven and I wish all the best with planning your wedding in Hawaii this summer. It will be spectacular, I just know it!!

December, December

Oh December. In an attempt to slow down and enjoy Christmas, I have decided to take December off. I wanted to let my clients know that I will still be answering phone calls, emails and canvas order requests. However, I will not be shooting in the month of December. Sorry folks, no more last minute engagement shoots for this month. If you are patient enough to wait until the new year, I promise to return to shooting, a refreshed and rejuvenated Renee! I thought with the recent switch to wedding and engagement photography, that December was pretty much a sure thing to have off - being as it's definitely not the wedding season in this part of the world. However, I have been proven wrong! I am still as crazy as ever ... and with this years wedding season wrapping up ... I'm not going to lie ... I am tired! Like I mentioned earlier, the new year is a new year ... and I know that with a bit of time off, I'll be ready to dive into my passion once again. In the mean time, I plan on spending lots of time with my hubby cozied up in front of the fire place, Chirstmas shopping and sledding my 2 big goofy dogs, Oscar and Annie (if there is snow of course). Here is last year's Christmas card of my beautiful little family ... so that you are able to see why they deserve all the attention in the world around such a magical time of year. Merry Christmas!! Oh and I am still a few blog posts behind ... so still stay tuned!!

Professional Photographers of Canada Convention

I have just returned from the Professional Photographers of Canada Provincial Convention. It was an amazing weekend, jam packed with fabulous speakers and endless learning opportunities. What a great experience! I couldn't have hoped for more! This was also the first year that I submitted prints into their competition. I was terrified and excited all the same time when my prints came up for judging. The whole process was anonymous, so I was really looking forward to hearing feedback on my prints from a completely unbiased perspective. As it turned out ... and I was COMPLETELY surprised, knowing how challenging such a competition is, all 4 of my entries were accepted and one received a merit score. All 4 prints were nominated for the best in their class and 1 won!!! My editorial entry won a very fancy trophy for the best in it's class. I was soooo excited to receive such an award from an organization as credible as the PPOC. In addition to the incredible honor of having one of my prints win, I was also nominated (1 of 3 photographers) for General Photographer of the Year!! Although I didn't win, I was incredibly happy and pleasantly surprised to even be considered. The fellow who won definitely deserved it, as he does amazingly beautiful work.... and I was ecstatic to even be considered for the reward at his side. What a great weekend!! So here are the 4 photos that I entered and their categories. To view the image larger simply click on it.

This was my winning print! It won best in it's class - Editorial category. yay!!

Darla & Trevor E-Session

This blog post is WAY overdue! Darla and Trevor, I do apologize for taking so long to post your sneak peek. This session took place the weekend before last and I couldn't be happier with the results! Darla and Trevor were a blast to work with .... getting these two to laugh certainly wasn't a challenge at all! What an unbelievable connection! I loved the guitar addition and I'm very impressed with Trevor's musical abilities considering he mentioned lacking a "key component" ... the guitar pick. Regardless, he did a great job. It wasn't just for show .... he actually did play some really good tunes! I'm very much looking forward to their wedding in September 2009, and I really hope that Trevor's guitar makes another guest appearance. What a romantic touch!
